Colleziono da oltre 20 anni biglietti di ingresso, con l’aiuto di amici, parenti, altri collezionisti e ultimamente il variegato mondo di internet. All'ultimo inventario (novembre 2009) la collezione comprende 24.900, di 134 paesi diversi.
Una collezione piuttosto insolita, nata dalla mia passione per la storia, la geografia e naturalmente i viaggi.

Dopo avere a lungo accumulato biglietti di ingresso a mostre d'arte temporanee e musei castelli grotte giardini ecc. ho pensato che quelle ricevute di pagamento così diverse nelle varie parti del mondo, e nel tempo, costituivano un insieme di materiale utile a varie letture, da quella estetica relativa alla grafica e alle illustrazioni dei biglietti, a quella economica legata all’andamento dei prezzi, alle vicende storiche che si possono vedere riflesse nei biglietti.

Alcuni esempi possono essere il cambio dei regimi politici, che sempre comportano un cambio di moneta. L’avvento dell’Euro permette un confronto diretto con l’aumento dei costi rispetto alla moneta nazionale (per l’Italia gli esempi sono numerosi). Poi ci sono le curiosità più inaspettate, come i biglietti portoghesi per uomo e per donna, quelli gratuiti per i residenti. In Australia diventano mete turistiche visitabili edifici dell’800 solo perché sono le prime tracce dell’uomo occidentale in quel continente. Molto rari sono i biglietti che hanno più di 50/60 anni: bisogna sempre ricordare che per loro natura i biglietti scadono e vengono di solito buttati all’uscita dal monumento visitato.

I desideri e le speranze di un collezionista che ha scelto un tipo di collezione come questa, senza cataloghi e documenti di informazione, sono sostanzialmente due:
acquisire sempre più e con maggiore varietà altri esemplari, e approfondire la conoscenza della storia dei biglietti di ingresso,attraverso il contributo di collezionisti, storici o chiunque conosce aspetti particolari di questo “biglietto che dà diritto a visitare…..”.

Patrizio writes: "I have been collecting Admission Tickets to tourist sites for 20 years, with the help of friends, relatives, other collectors and, recently, contacts via the world of the Internet in all its variety. As of now (november 2009) my collection numbers 24.900 different tickets issued in 134 countries.

It's an unusual collection, driven by my enthusiasm for history, geography and, of course, travel. Admission tickets to temporary art exhibitions, museums, castles, caves,
gardens etc have accumulated over a long period and I have come to realise that these 'payment receipts', varying over time and place worldwide, are full of meaning and suggest various readings: an aesthetic reading deriving from graphic design and illustration, or an economic indicator of the history of changing prices or a record of the historical changes described
on the tickets.

For example, a political change can mean a change of currency. The introduction of the euro resulted in price increases - in Italy there were many cases of higher costs compared with the old currency. But there are also unexpected oddities such as, in Portugal, different
tickets for men and for women, or free tickets for local people but not for visitors.
In Australia, there are nineteenth century buildings that are now tourist attractions because they are the earliest surviving traces of Westerners in that continent.

Tickets more than 50 or 60 years old are very rare. Once used and no longer valid, Admission Tickets are usually discarded at the end of the visit. You can se a selection of tickets in our Picture Gallery. As a collector of these items for which no catalogue or published
information exists, I have two main interests -
To broaden the range of the collection with more tickets and more variety, and
To expand my knowledge of the history of Admission Tickets with the help of collectors, historians or anyone with a knowledge of special aspects of the 'ticket which gives the
right to make a visit'.
